project overview

For the Swedish ice cream brand SIA Glass, I drove the end-to-end character pipeline for a photo-real, animated stick insect (vandrande pinne) integrated into live-action plates. Operating in a rigorous, pre-AI workflow, this project demanded total technical ownership and pixel-level intent across every stage of production, where realism had to be engineered entirely by hand rather than generated. I modeled and procedurally textured the creature to capture the complex, translucent qualities of its organic shell, then built a custom skeleton in 3ds Max using the CAT rig system to hand-animate its unique, halting micro-movements. The final phase involved precise technical compositing, where I audited the real-world lens optics, tracking data, and photometric lighting of the physical set to seamlessly lock the 3D asset into the footage, creating a flawless and playful commercial sequence.
